A 19th century portrait miniature of an unknown girl

Description Wearing white dress with large blue ribbon sash
Set in a gold coloured frame, the reverse with plaited hair embellished with four stars - possibly the age of the child

Burch studied at the St. Martin's Lane Academy. He exhibited at the Society of Artist's, 1760-69 and at the R.A., 1770-1808. He became a R.Al 1771 and librarian to the R.A., 1794. He was a sculptor, medallist a good gem engraver and also painted miniatures and exhibited an enamel at the R.A., 1792. His son, Henry Jacob Burch was also a miniaturist
